Arizona fifth-year forward Esmery Martinez has been named Associated Press Player of the Week, as announced by the AP on Tuesday. She is the first Wildcat to win the award, which the AP began in the 2023-24 season.

Martinez comes off a weekend where she averaged 18.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. She nearly had a triple-double in the win at California with 20 points, nine rebounds and seven assists while committing no turnovers.

Her 17-point, nine-rebound stat line at No. 3 Stanford helped secure the Wildcats' first road win over the Cardinal since 2001. She scored her 1,500th career point in that matchup and is the only active player in the country with 1,500 points, 1,200 rebounds, 200 assists, 200 steals and 100 blocks.

Martinez was a key part of the Cats' first win at Stanford and their first road sweep of the Bay Area schools since 2001. Arizona is on the longest active winning streak in the Pac-12 with four consecutive victories. She was honored as Pac-12 Player of the Week on Feb. 26 for her play at the Bay Area schools.
